Not really. It doesn't work all too well to mix the concept of SVG and
pixel-oriented items. The icons wouldn't be aware of closer localities and
overlap or being shifted around in an unforeseeable manner. 
More than 15 years ago, at KDE3 we were aware that different screens would be
arriving, like large monitors, in landscape, and small portable ones,
eventually in portrait. And the intention was, to allow for seamless switching.
I had a number of discussions offline on this topic and how to solve it. Plasma
4 offered a crude, but working method: screen regions and then wrapping around. 
Seemingly, this problem was removed off the focus. Desktop layout must be an
independent task, resolution and orientation aware, and scale according to
resolution (some mobiles have huge dpi values) and physical diagonale.
