            Bug ID: 440142
Summary: Can't import clips with non-BMP characters in filename
           Product: kdenlive
           Version: 21.04.3
          Platform: Other
                OS: Linux
            Status: REPORTED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: Video Display & Export
          Assignee: j...@kdenlive.org
          Reporter: pe...@elementw.net
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

Clips with filenames containing characters outside the Unicode BMP, most
commonly Emoji, cannot be imported.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Name an example video file "🙃 test.<extension>"
2. Drag & drop it to the Project Bin, or right click and import it, or even
import the whole folder it is in

OBSERVED RESULT

"Cannot open file /path/to/🙃 test.<extension>"

EXPECTED RESULT

File being imported.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Plasma 5.22.3
KF 5.83.0
Qt 5.15.2

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Tested on an XFS filesystem. Other filesystems with Unicode support most likely
exhibit the same issue.
Workaround is to simply remove non-BMP characters from filename, but it is
unreasonable to expect the average user to know about this.
