I agree, the motivation for the animated split view are to make new users
understand what is going on.
But old users do not need it.
Also, even on an haswell i5 4590, sometimes it is jerky when using icon view
even on 1080p (pressing F3 one time per second makes one core to go 100%, it is
unacceptable), I won't even imagine what it would look like on 4k.
Please, give us a way to turn it off.
