Good catch, Maik! Turns out: I spun up digiKam in 2018 for a test, and it must
be those .db files that threw things off. I deleted those files and all was
well. (I've checked many more en-Face-d photos and digiKam has done great.)
(There might be some merit to a warning of the form "Those are _really_ old
database files, wouldn't you like to start over?" But that would be a separate
topic.)
