It looks as if it is device specific - perhaps corruption of a library on my desktop. I back the file up weekly and so I updated my latest backup on my backup laptop step by step and the problem did not appear. However, when I copied the file to my desktop, even after reinstalling KMyMoney, the problem persisted.
