Which version of Krita are you using?
What OS are you on? Is it Windows? If yes, please attach Help -> Show Krita log
for bug reports. You can also try to (without opening any files) go to
Configure Krita -> Display and switch the Renderer and restart your Krita.
If it's not Windows, please follow this instruction:

. You can try to disable the Canvas Graphics Acceleration in Configure Krita ->
Display and see if that changes anything, too (restart your PC afterwards,
too).
