Can you please explain what do you mean by "forever gone"? Does it mean that
(1) the old settings before the overwriting are gone now? (2) the new settings
are gone and cannot be reached? (3) Both versions are gone?
In any case, this is a part of resource rewrite, so when we finish it, I guess
it won't happen anymore anyway.
