That's because you're using standard Krita groups which work differently than,
for example, groups in Photoshop. To get Photoshop-like behaviour you need to
turn on "pass-through" mode on the group layer. Otherwise there is simply no
layer that the "Frame 1 Merged" can multiply with, because it is the first
layer in the group, so it is composited with an empty area. See

Although in your case to get the effect you probably wanted you can just put
the group layer into Multiply mode.
