--- Comment #17 from Fabsk <fa...@free.fr> --- Regarding my previous comment, tt turns out that for an unknown reason I had a file "~/.config/autostart/dolphin.desktop" which started "dolphin --deamon". After removing it, the additional Dolphin window/process does not show up any more in a new session.
