Linux Mint is based on Ubuntu and on my Ubuntu installation it is working. Maybe there are some dependencies missing. Could you check if you have the following packages installed or try to install them using sudo apt install libqt5quick5 libqt5qml5 qml-module-qtquick-layouts qml-module-qtquick2 If this still does not help, check if "ldd /usr/lib/kid3/plugins/libqmlcommand.so" reports some "not found" libraries.
