I think the problem is that the information about the preference between entering total price or price per share is stored with the account, not with the security itself. I think it would be more inconsistent for different securities in the same investment account to be handled differently. Right now, oddly, I can't find where the default behavior is set. Beyond that, it can be set for the Investment Account (under Account/Edit) and then separately for the Account for that security in that investment account. More oddly, I also find the same setting in the configuration for the underlying security (security vs equities tab in the Investments View.)
