In pulseaudio terms this is "module-role-ducking" you could configure
notifications locally to be in the trigger-roles.
Can you elaborate on "strange sounds"?
I have a feeling that if we actually had this we would actually just find that
people find it annoying to have their podcast/whatever interrupted as they move
between rooms.
