Example: you're on a flight, another user adds a CalDAV event with a reminder set 1hr in the future. You land 2hrs later, connect to the internet, the event is synced. But you never see a reminder because by the time it synced, it was 1hour in the past. Actually missed an important event as a result of this. Considering it was reported more than six and a half years ago, is it safe to assume it won't be fixed?
