Typically this is a sign of something else being the problem at a lower level.
Are you by any chance on one of those hybrid nvidia + intel graphic machines
kcmshell5 qtquicksettings
and changing the render loop to basic
will "fix" it.
Confirm if that works, if so it's a known issue
