The selection tool thing is already fixed by developer, will be fixed for you
in the next version.
Please try Select -> Select All, and then Select -> Deselect. Does it fix it?
If not, is it only in one document or all of them? If all of them, go to
Configure Krita -> Display and change OpenGL to ANGLE or back, press OK or
alt+O and restart Krita.
