This bug has now been fixed in the latest git master build. The dev's have
added a warning in the status bar after running the Kdenlive master version
from the kdenilve-master ppa (I added a screenshot before posting this
comment).
Issue has been fixed/resolved. Thanks JB for all your hard work! As always. :)
