When I start KDE via "startx", all the autostarted programs opened up their windows and appeared in the system tray. I did this repeatedly and it worked consistently. This issue only seems to happen when logging in via SDDM. All the programs autostart, but windows don't open and they don't appear in the taskbar. The only programs that seem to be affected are any program that isn't QT or Plasma-based. When I start Google Chrome, the Hangouts extension will open up in the system tray.
