A temporary solution to save the window position and geometry in KDE is to:
1. from a window menu choose Advanced
2. select 'additional program settings'
3. check 'position' and 'geometry'
4. from the dropdown lists select 'force'
5. save all and close the program window
6. open it again - position and geometry should be remembered.
