It's used for the latte context menu only, and if this were implemented you'd still be able to access it on mouse up (same as left click). The tiny latte menu is for config, and it's not something the user should even be accessing on a regular basis. So you'd be trading this tiny delay in exchange for being able to easily resize windows, which is one of the most important features of the WM. Seems like a very good tradeoff.
