This might be a task that is better for a python plugin for doing a set of
commands quickly than something we need to build directly into Krita. 

I would consider an animated gif a video, which is a different problem than the
video you posted with image sequences. Animated GIFs have an additional step of
extracting images before importing them. 

I did make a python plugin recently that you can import animated gifs (or other
video files) to make it easier to import without starting a document.

There could potentially be an option to import an image sequence...but it
really isn't saving much time since that option already exists in Krita and it
wouldn't save that much time.
