Bug ID: 410578 Summary: Amarok fails to see, browse or play music on shared Network drive Product: amarok Version: 2.9.0 Platform: Neon Packages OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: Collections/UPnP Assignee: amarok-bugs-d...@kde.org Reporter: i...@gmx.net CC: bart.cerne...@kde.org Target Milestone: kf5 Amarok fails to see, browse or play music stored in share on shared NAS drive attached to Wifi router. Music is set up for UPNP (if required for any solution). Music files (mp3) are visible in Dolphin and can be played from the file manager OK. Amarok Version 2.9.0 Plugin: UPnP Collection 1.0 activated No UPNP device appears in Local Music Possibly some UPNP application is missing from the install?. But UPNP is not a fixed requirement. Just a possible alternative solution. SOLUTION SUGGESTION Amarok Home/Files file browser can see Network shares. And can play them as local files. SOLUTION SUGGESTION ALTERNATIVE User can mount (permanently) the share in an easy way. Today there is no mount GUI for non IT level users. EXPECTATION New user should be able to play music stored on a NAS without needing the command line or cryptic tricks. Any configuration needed must be discoverable, via settings or with minimal help. If additional software is required this must be in Discover and mentioned in the Help document. TEST STEPS 1) Give a new user a new install of KDE Neon. 2) User should be able play the music without specialised knowledge using the GUI only. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS KDE Neon 5.16 KDE Plasma Version: 5.16.4. KDE Frameworks Version: 5.60 Qt Version: 5.0.0-23-generic -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
