            Bug ID: 410291
Summary: Please rename System settings to Control panel
           Product: systemsettings
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: Other
                OS: Linux
            Status: REPORTED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
          Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
          Reporter: midenok+kdeb...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

>From my experience "System settings" is bad name. From the beginning when it
came to v4 I always have difficulty to find it in menu. This is because there
is "System" submenu and "Settings" submenu, so there is no clear intuitive
understanding what submenu to open. And I always get into "System" first
(because "System settings" starts from this word).

Another reason IMO is that "System settings" is not correct at all, because it
configures not OS. Well, it can at some degree, but does it not very well, so I
did not use it this way.

What it configures mainly is desktop shell, so "System settings" is misses the
point.

I think "Control panel" by Microsoft is best name that can be ever invented.
Please, don't try to avoid same terminology just because some rival products
use it. There is no copyright on names AFAICS.

Conversely, please try to use more names that are already used in other
products. Thus you'll bring easiness to all people and that probably will be
more interesting for new users.
