Bug ID: 409490 Summary: Recording desktop video isn't possible with compositing disabled Product: frameworks-plasma Version: 5.59.0 Platform: Archlinux Packages OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: components Assignee: notm...@gmail.com Reporter: m...@abv.bg Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY Record desktop isn't possible with compositing disabled. Since enabled compositing introdice heavy stuttering and visual glitches in some games, when I record a gameplay video it's recommended to disable compositing if the game doesn't turn off it by yourself via "Allow applications to block compositing" option. And here is the problem - when I disable compositing the recorded video is a black screen or the first frame from the game, be it a splash screen, movie or a company logo. I tried every singe record desktop software available and all behave the same way - blank video with compositing disabled. If I enable compositing the video is recorded fine but with graphical glitches and stuttering. I'm forced to instal a LXDE DE to record videos which isn't ok I think. Excuse me if the isuue isn't in the right section but I really don't know where to post it. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Disable compositing and try to record a game video. 2. 3. OBSERVED RESULT Blank video with sound but no image. EXPECTED RESULT Video with image.
