I noticed this too - In the Undo History the Duplicate Nodes step takes several
seconds to appear, however if you click on a previous operation in that time
span, the new duplication step instantly appears and the layer becomes
editable. Pressing Ctrl+Z before it finishes seems to cancel the step entirely
however.
