            Bug ID: 406429
Summary: after monitors power off/on screens messed up
           Product: KScreen
           Version: 5.14.5
          Platform: Other
                OS: Linux
            Status: REPORTED
          Severity: major
          Priority: NOR
         Component: common
          Assignee: se...@kde.org
          Reporter: kde-b...@ginguppin.de
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

I've got two monitors on a NVidia adapter.
Left one is primary.
The last two nights I didn't hibernate or shutdown the computer, but only
powered off the two monitors.

Yesterday, when powering on the monitors, all open Windows were moved to the
left screen.
Today, the whole screen configuration of the right screen was gone:
- different background
- different panel

Judging from the mess in .config/plasmashellrc and the count badges in the "Add
Widgets ..." popup, the screen configuration still exists, but isn't applied
anymore because plasma fails to recognize the screen.

It took me over an hour, a reboot and eventually setting up everything again,
because it is impossible to convince kscreen that screen X is the same one as
yesterday, and it is impossible to get back the apparently still existing
screen configuration.

I don't know how kscreen tries to recognize monitors, but that obviously is
flawed.
And in any case, those ghostly screen configuration should be available
somewhere to help people to work around the mess kscreen creates.

Those lost configurations I encounter rather often, but usually after a reboot
- not simply after power off/on of just two monitors.
