Bug ID: 406287 Summary: If laptop lid is shut, powerdevil puts system to sleep rather than shutdown as requested. Product: Powerdevil Version: 5.15.3 Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org Reporter: un...@physics.ubc.ca Target Milestone: --- Created attachment 119276 --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=119276&action=edit Extract from systemd journal from time that the system tries to start the shutdown, the long pause while it was asleep rather than shutdown, and then the start of the shutdown SUMMARY If the laptop (Dell XPS 13 9360 ) lid is shut when the inactivity timer from Power Management->Battery->SuspendSession times out, instead of shutting down, the system goes into a deep sleep instead. When the lid is reopened, the shutdown starts and continues to shut the system down. Thus instead of being shut down, the system is sleeping for say 2 or 3 days until I next use the laptop. The settings are Dim Screen 2 min, Screen Eenrgy Saving 21 min, Suspend Session 66 min Shutdown, Button event handling when laptop lid closed-> turn off screen. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. shut laptop without Shutdown. 2. Wait. 3. The laptop does not Shutdown, but when the lid is reopened, the SDDM greeter appears briefly and then the shutdown process starts and finishes. OBSERVED RESULT The system goes to sleep and only completes shutdown after the lid is opened. EXPECTED RESULT The system should shut down SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: (available in About System) KDE Plasma Version: 5.12.2 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.42.0 Qt Version: 5.9.4 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Os-- Mageia 6 uptodate.
