And there are only so many ways to render a circle. I never said we didn't need a solution. I agree that we do but given Noto Sans' other failings, the fact that no font is ever perfect (and that we shouldn't cling to Noto Sans so fervently), and the fact that the circles as rendered by a different font whose height matches that of Noto Sans (and not Symbols2) look the same as those of Noto Sans Symbols2, this workaround seems like an acceptable provisional solution.
