--- Comment #10 from Mauro Carvalho Chehab <mchehab+sams...@kernel.org> --- (In reply to tonyarcher from comment #9) > the whole ethos of Linux is that you dont EVER put a version out into a > distro that hasnt been tested and found to work correctly ...EVER. Nobody is telling otherwise. Still, most distros want a BZ on their systems before upgrading packages, and they have their own QA policies. Often, it means to have a separate "testing/unstable" repositories where new versions are places in order for users to test. > > why on earth did you choose to change kaffeine from Xine to VLC ???? no > reason was ever explained... Dunno. You have to ask to the past maintainer. Yet, there were *hundreds* of bugs opened against older Kaffeine versions due to Xine by the time I started working on it. So, I suspect that the reason is that it was causing too many troubles, but I may be wrong. > why not consider rewriting a version based on MUMUDBV ? at least that > works... The best maintained MPEG-TS and audio/video decoding project nowadays are libVlc and GStreamer. I would myself stick with one of them. I don't know myself how MuMuDVB decode video standards. > > might i suggest you boffins just design a gui front end for mumudbv. The beauty of Linux is that anyone can do that, or to write a completely new GUI for MuMuDvb, including you. I don't foresee any work from my side on that, as a change like this is complex and I simply don't have enough time. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
