I switched to KDE Neon (based on Ubuntu 18.04) and have all updates applied, even with the "Breeze Dark" theme applied in KDE and elsewhere, this doesn't really improve the situation. See attached screenshot. All other KDE apps have a clearly visible border around checkboxes and form fields, Digikam does not.
