This is much needed. I don't see this as a destructive action, provided that
it's only applied for remove media and has a proper warning.
Not beeing able to easily format a usb drive in dolphin is a huge usability
issue, all other environments (Windows, macos, gnome, etc) have a similar
context menu feature.
