I just noticed that peruse is using an embedded copy of unarr because the
original author stopped working on the project. Maybe you'd be interested in
using https://github.com/selmf/unarr instead?
It's my personal fork of the project and it still receives maintenance. It also
has a CMake based build system suited for packaging as a shared library and
packages suitable for testing if you want to give it a try.
