Bug ID: 395241 Summary: Faces in the "People" panel load slowly, and only when you scroll through them Product: digikam Version: 6.0.0 Platform: MS Windows OS: MS Windows Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: Faces-Workflow Assignee: digikam-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: iwannaber...@gmail.com Target Milestone: --- When selecting a person on the "People" panel on the right, the faces are loaded on demand. Unlike normal thumbnails, faces are only loaded when they have the windows focus (that is, when you are scrolling through them). A face won't load until you scroll to its position. In addition to that, faces load quite slowly, around 3 faces per second (pictures stored in a NAS). I have some persons with more than 3000 faces, and it's quite inconvenient to browse through their faces, since it means scrolling to a position and wait a few minutes until faces appear. 3000 faces at 3faces/second means more than 15 minutes of actively and manual scrolling for the faces to load. The workaround of leaving that person selected and waiting a few minutes does not work, since only the faces which are currently "seen" will be loaded. That works for normal thumbnails, but not for faces. It would be convenient if faces would load in the background when there's no activity. Or even generate the faces the first time they are detected (maybe that already exists, my face regions were saved from another software). That way, once you select a person, the faces would be already pre-generated. I hope you understand what I mean. I am using digiKam-6.0.0-git-20180603T215351-Win64 on Windows 10, by the way. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
