I can still reproduce this bug with that branch. While the rate at which the
memory usage increases is silghtly slower, the memory usage still increases to
around 600 to 700 MiB quickly. I have tested with both the media frame and
slideshow wallpaper (this was the one which showed the slower increase with
your branch). The memory leak is still present in both cases (I tested with the
image set to change at 3 sec intervals).

Unrelated to this issue, the option to blur the part not covered by the
wallpaper when it is 'centered' seems to be broken in your branch. The blur is
applied to the entire background, instead.
