I'm also affected by this bug in the PC at home, but not at work, both updated
to plasmashell 5.11.5, kde 5.41.0, Kubuntu 17.10
This weekend I experimented a bit at home: when I changed the second monitor
desktop from "Slideshow" (20 secs between image change) to "Hunyango" the bug
stopped. When I restored back to "Slideshow" the bug reappered.
"free" shows that a lot of memory is used in "shared"
