I Can't reproduce this on Ubuntu 14.04 - Krita 4.0.0-beta1.1.appimage.
My steps:
1) create a "File" layer
2) create a "Clone" layer out of it
3) save the document and exit Krita
4) rename the local image referred by the "File" layer
5) re-open the document
Actual Results: no crash at open, instead a dialog correctly ask me if I want
to update the path to the missing image.
