Expected look of build-up brush on fill layer

On master, the way build-up brush dabs paint on a Fill Layer appears very
different to the way it paints on earlier Krita versions like 3.3.1, I don't
really know how to describe it, it just looks ugly and unexpected. I will
attach the example files "nice dabs.kra" (3.3.1) and "ugly dabs.kra" (master)
to demonstrate.

Alternatively here are some screenshots to show what it looks like, though I'm
no longer certain which versions I used to make them on (Also, I don't know how
long these links last):

Result https://my.mixtape.moe/uxyoky.png

How to Reproduce:
1. Make a Fill Layer, Color
2. Activate a build-up brush preset (like Pencil_texture)
3. Paint on the Fill Layer
