Multi-monitor support has been worked on a lot recently. Any chance you can
upgrade to something more recent than 5.5.5 and re-test? Since you're using
Kubuntu, you should be able to use the kubuntu-backports PPA to upgrade to
5.11.4:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:kubuntu-ppa/backports
sudo apt-get update
