Thanks for the report!

What desktop are you using Plasma/Gnome/...? The save dialog depends on the
used desktop integration. For me Del asks if I want to move the folder to
trash. 

I agree that the save dialog should not allow deleting files as easily as in
dolphin/(or some other file handler) as you don't expect a save dialog to be
potentially destructive.

I hope you did not loose anything important. I once lost a whole summers worth
of images. I struggled for a week and got most of it back. I used a program
that copied all the "empty" parts of the partition and then I created a program
that looked for the beginning of a jpeg image and then saved a 3MB chunk. After
that I did some post processing to remove file-system data from the resulting
files.
