Yes, I'm afraid there will not be a solution for Debian 8. By design, Debian's
packaging model results in extremely old, out-of-date packages being used for
years, and we just don't have the manpower to maintain so many versions of our
software. If you can't upgrade to Debian 9, you might try seeing if there is a
backported newer version of Okular that will run on Debian 8:
