Sounds very Microsoft'ish. W10 changed the start menu to such a list including
headers for letters like A, Afoo,Abar,Aqux, B... It makes no sense with a tree,
IMHO, and running behind MS feels bad to me. Also the use case is not perfectly
clear as the overview rather lacks on structure. I assume it was done at W10 to
get away from the "complex" tree control.
Alternative ways to show the list of installed apps could be offered by the
software manager (Muon, or whatever your distribution provides) and at KRunner
(far fetched though).
