As you probably guessed the background window is not what we see with the
greeter. It's basically the lower-left quarter of the screen, stretched to the
size of the display when logout greeter is present.
If it helps, when Yakuake is retrieved (F12) it shows first quarter (lower-left
again) of the window and then the rest three quarters, whish is noticeable.
Same behaviour can be noticed for the logout greeter as well.
