--- Comment #11 from K.J. Petrie <[email protected]> ---
Well, I'd second that last comment. I had to move to an AMD card when my
preferred distro moved to Plasma 6 because my 10-year-old Nvidia card kept
locking up with it. The trouble is, the AMD card has drawbacks. It cares
whether the monitors connected to it are switched on and refuses to work if one
is switched off. Since my machine boots headless every morning to perform some
automated tasks I have to wait for it to finish and shut down before I can
switch the monitors on and use it. Similarly I can't switch the screens off
while it's running if I want to leave it for a few hours to do a big job while
I go away to do something else, because any change of monitor state while the
computer's running will cause it to become unresponsive. The Nvidia didn't
care. The AMD card does and doesn't tolerate me using the machine as I like.

None of this is directly the responsibility of KDE, but it does illustrate the
practical consequence these decisions will have for some users.
