Bug ID: 528262
Summary: "Focus stealing prevention" window rule property fails
to apply on Krunner when set to "None", while setting
"None" through the global Focus stealing prevention
Window Behavior works
Classification: Plasma
Product: kwin
Version First 6.8.2
Reported In:
Platform: Arch Linux
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: wayland-generic
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Target Milestone: ---
SUMMARY
Librewolf (didn't tried with other apps) does not receive focus when opening an
external link through Krunner, despite a matching window rule forcing
focus-stealing prevention to None .
Instead, globally setting Focus stealing prevention Window Behaviour to None
(was Low before) works.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Run Plasma on Wayland with LibreWolf.
2. Set global Focus stealing prevention to Low.
3. Create a LibreWolf window rule:
- Window class: librewolf (exact match)
- Focus stealing prevention: Force → None
4. Apply the rule and a bookmark link from KRunner
while LibreWolf is already running.
OBSERVED RESULT
The link opens in LibreWolf, but the browser does not receive focus.
EXPECTED RESULT
The per-application None rule should allow LibreWolf to receive focus, even if
global Window Behavior is set to Low
DIAGNOSTICS
- KWin reports resourceClass and resourceName as librewolf.
- LibreWolf about:support reports Window Protocol: wayland.
- Adding Keep above other windows → Force → Yes to the same rule works,
confirming the rule matches and is applied.
- Fully quitting and reopening LibreWolf does not help.
- Setting global focus-stealing prevention to None fixes it.
ENVIRONMENT
Arch Linux
Plasma/KWin: 6.8.2
Qt: 6.12.0
LibreWolf: 159.0.0_1-1
Session: Wayland
