Bug ID: 528250
Summary: ksecretd started by pam_kwallet crashes at login,
wallet no longer auto-unlocked
Classification: Frameworks and Libraries
Product: frameworks-kwallet
Version First 6.31.0
Reported In:
Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: normal

Target Milestone: ---
Version: kf6-kwallet 6.31.0-1.fc44, plasma-workspace 6.8.2-1.fc44, Fedora 44,
Wayland (plasmalogin)
Since a recent update, the wallet is no longer unlocked automatically at login
via PAM. Before the update this worked without a prompt. Now a KWallet password
prompt appears in the session, and apps that need stored credentials (Akonadi,
Outlook login) ask again.
Journal at login (user session):
pam_kwallet5: final socket path: /run/user/1000/kwallet5.socket
Started plasma-kwallet-pam.service - Unlock kwallet from pam credentials.
ksecretd[4215]: Failed to create wl_display (No such file or directory)
ksecretd[4215]: Could not load the Qt platform plugin "wayland" in "" even
though it was found.
ksecretd[4215]: could not connect to display
ksecretd[4215]: Could not load the Qt platform plugin "xcb" in "" even though
it was found.
ksecretd[4215]: This application failed to start because no Qt platform plugin
could be initialized.
systemd-coredump: Process 4215 (ksecretd) of user 1000 dumped core. (Module
ksecretd from rpm kf6-kwallet-6.31.0-1.fc44.x86_64)
Expected: ksecretd started by pam_kwallet at login does not need a display (or
uses an offscreen platform) and unlocks the wallet with the PAM credentials.
