Bug ID: 528056
Summary: none/tests/fdleak_ipv4 is flaky: forked child output
interleaves with parent
Classification: Developer tools
Product: valgrind
Version First unspecified
Reported In:
Platform: Ubuntu
OS: Other
Status: REPORTED
Severity: minor
Priority: NOR
Component: general
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Target Milestone: ---
Problem
fdleak_ipv4 forks: the child runs server(), the parent runs client().
Both run under --track-fds=yes and share stderr. The parent reports its
deliberate double close while the child may already be exiting and printing its
"FILE DESCRIPTORS: 5 open" report, so the two interleave line by line:
==27763== Previously closed
==27764==
==27764== FILE DESCRIPTORS: 5 open (3 inherited) at exit.
==27763== at 0x4962724: close (close.c:27)
==27763== by 0x40016B9: client (fdleak_ipv4.c:69)
==27764== Open AF_INET socket 4: 127.0.0.1:12321 <-> 127.0.0.1:44710
The test filters strip the ==PID== prefixes, so the output no longer matches
fdleak_ipv4.stderr.exp. Whether the test passes depends on scheduling.
