Summary: Opening a zip file using Dolphin from outside of
Dolphin displays an error message
Classification: Applications
Product: dolphin
Version First 26.08.1
Reported In:
Platform: Bazzite
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR

Target Milestone: ---
DESCRIPTION
When I associate zip files with Dolphin and attempt to open one of them from
outside of Dolphin (e.g. from my desktop), I get an error message that I must
dismiss to view the contents of the zip file.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Right click a zip file outside of Dolphin (e.g. on the desktop).
2. Choose the "open with" option.
3. Choose Dolphin.
OBSERVED RESULT
The zip file opens in Dolphin, but an error message is displayed:
Trying to open a file as a folder:
‘file:///home/ed/Desktop/allgonepetephong24108.zip’
The Dolphin window just shows the zip file itself, rather than its contents.
There is a button that says "Open as File". Clicking this button displays the
contents of the zip file.
EXPECTED RESULT
The zip file opens in Dolphin, and its contents are displayed immediately.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The same thing happens whether or not the "Browse compressed files as folders"
option is enabled. However, opening a zip file from within Dolphin works as
expected if the option is enabled. Oddly enough, if the option is disabled, but
zip files are associated with Dolphin, then I get the error message even when
opening the zip file from within Dolphin; it's as if double clicking the zip
file in Dolphin with the option disabled is deferring to a global file handler,
which sends it back to Dolphin in the same way that opening the zip file from
outside of Dolphin does, triggering the same bug.
