produces black text on a black background, making the
text unreadable.

These are the relevant screenshots.
DESCRIPTION
When Konsole uses a dark theme and Neovim uses a light theme, attempting to
input Chinese in Normal mode with a block cursor results in the preedit area
having a white background with black text; in Insert mode with a line cursor,
inputting Chinese results in the preedit area having a black background with
black text, making the text unreadable at that point.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Configure Konsole to use a dark theme and Neovim to use a light theme.
2. Open Neovim in Konsole and switch to Insert mode so that the cursor is a
line cursor.
3. Start inputting Chinese via an IME and trigger the preedit area; observe
that the preedit area is black text on a black background, making the text
unreadable.
OBSERVED RESULT
The preedit area is black text on a black background, making the text
unreadable.
EXPECTED RESULT
The text should be readable. In this example, the preedit area could be black
text on a light background.
SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Operating System: Arch Linux
KDE Plasma Version: 6.8.1
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.31.0
Qt Version: 6.12.0
Konsole Version: 26.08.2
Neovim Version: 0.12.6
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
When Konsole uses a dark theme and Neovim uses a dark theme, attempting to
input Chinese in Normal mode with a block cursor results in the preedit area
having a white background with black text; in Insert mode with a line cursor,
inputting Chinese results in the preedit area having a black background with
white text.
When Konsole uses a light theme, or Neovim uses only a block cursor (in this
case, Konsole can use either a light or a dark theme), black text on a black
background will not occur.
A user on the Arch Linux CN forum told me that this issue can also be
reproduced in Vim.
