Bug ID: 527634
Summary: Overview: switching virtual desktops by scrolling
right after opening the Overview skips the transition
animation
Classification: Plasma
Product: kwin
Version First unspecified
Reported In:
Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: effects-overview
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Target Milestone: ---
SUMMARY
When I open the Overview and immediately scroll the mouse wheel to switch
virtual desktops, the switch happens without any transition animation. The view
jumps straight to the target desktop.
If I wait a split second after opening the Overview before scrolling, the
desktop switch animation plays normally.
The deciding factor is the delay between opening the Overview and the first
scroll, not the scroll speed itself. It looks like scrolling while the
Overview's opening animation is still in progress causes the desktop switch
animation to be skipped instead of played or queued.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Set up at least 2 virtual desktops.
2. Press Meta+Tab to open the Overview and immediately scroll the mouse wheel.
3. Close the Overview.
4. Press Meta+Tab again, wait about half a second, then scroll the mouse wheel.
OBSERVED RESULT
- Step 2: the desktop switches instantly with no animation.
- Step 4: the desktop switch animation plays as expected.
EXPECTED RESULT
The desktop switch animation should play in both cases. If the Overview is
still animating open, the switch animation should start once it's ready or
blend into it, not be dropped.
REPRODUCIBILITY
Always
