Just tracking my observation until I can reproduce it reliably: I upgraded to recent Plasma and again it occured again only with Kate, other apps like Notepad++, Acrobat Pro (CrossOver), LibreOffice, Firefox, IntelliJ, freerdp3 don't have this issue (yet). Seems to happen in th efirst docking/undockings after fresh restart. Workaround: Dock back to the monitorlayout where I started Kate. After undocking only workaround is to restart Kate.
