            Bug ID: 527556
Summary: Korganizer: Moving event between calendars creates
duplicate instead of moving (CalDAV sync issue)
    Classification: Frameworks and Libraries
           Product: Akonadi
      Version First unspecified
       Reported In:
          Platform: NixOS
                OS: Linux
            Status: REPORTED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: DAV Resource
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]

  Target Milestone: ---

DESCRIPTION

When changing an event's calendar assignment in Korganizer (e.g., moving an
event from the "work" calendar to the "personal" calendar), the event is
correctly updated within Korganizer itself. However, when the changes sync to
Nextcloud via CalDAV, the event is copied to the target calendar rather than
moved. This results in the event appearing in both the source and target
calendars on the Nextcloud server, creating an unwanted duplicate.

The issue appears to be in the CalDAV sync mechanism, which may be sending a
CREATE (PUT) request to the new calendar but failing to properly send the
DELETE request to remove the event from the original calendar, or the deletion
is not being synchronized correctly.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE

Open Korganizer with a CalDAV-synced Nextcloud instance (multiple calendars
configured, e.g., "work" and "personal")
Create an event and assign it to the "work" calendar; verify it syncs to
Nextcloud
In Korganizer, click on the event and edit it
Change the event's calendar from "work" to "personal" and save the changes
Wait for sync to complete (or force sync if available)
Check the Nextcloud web calendar interface or verify in Korganizer's
calendar sources

OBSERVED RESULT

The event now appears in both the "work" and "personal" calendars in Nextcloud.
In Korganizer, the event is correctly shown only in "personal" (reflecting the
change), but the old copy in "work" is not removed from the server.

EXPECTED RESULT

The event should be moved from "work" to "personal"—meaning it is removed from
the "work" calendar and appears only in the "personal" calendar on the
Nextcloud server, matching the user's intent and Korganizer's local display.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS

Operating System: NixOS 26.05
KDE Plasma Version: 6.6.6
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.26.0
Qt Version: 6.11.1
Korganizer Version: 6.7.3 (26.04.3)
Nextcloud Version: n 6.7.3 (26.04.3) (Yunohost fork)

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

    Calendar backend: CalDAV (Nextcloud)
    Korganizer data backend: Akonadi
    The issue is consistently reproducible.
The issue also occurs with multiple calendar changes. When changing e.g.
from calendar A -> B -> C, it gets visible in all three on my webcalendar. In
Korganizer I get to see only the latest change, however, sometimes it shows a
copy, upon multiple changes.
No error messages in the Korganizer logs.
Manually moving the event via Nextcloud's web interface works correctly.
